Privacy

What we keep when you use EmuMods, and for how long. There are no accounts, we set no cookies of our own, and we never store your IP address.

No accounts

EmuMods has no accounts or profiles. You can read every page, report a link, submit an item or write to us without signing up or giving your name.

Cookies

EmuMods sets no cookies of its own.

The submit, report and contact pages load Cloudflare Turnstile, the spam check that keeps bots off the forms. No other page loads it. It runs in a frame served by Cloudflare, which may set its own cookies there to tell people from bots. Turnstile reads signals such as your IP address and your browser's user agent. Cloudflare describes them in its Turnstile privacy addendum.

The home page's Recently viewed list keeps the title, address and platforms of up to 8 games you opened. It is stored in your browser's local storage, is never sent to us, and is deleted when you clear this site's data.

Page counts and analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, from Vercel, the company that hosts the site. It sets no cookies and loads from our own domain. For each page view it records the time, the page's address, the site you came from, your rough location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and type of device. It tells visits apart by a hash of the request, which it discards after 24 hours, and it does not follow you to other sites. Vercel describes it on its analytics privacy page.

Game pages also count their own views on our server: one number per page per day, with no address, no cookie and nothing that says who viewed them. Those counts feed the list of popular games.

What you type in a search box goes to our server to find matching game titles. Vercel's content network keeps each answer for up to an hour under its web address, which includes what you typed, and for up to a day after that it may hand out the old answer while it fetches a new one. So the same search, from anyone, is often answered without reaching us. An answer with no matches is kept for a minute. We keep no record of what you typed: our server notes only whether a search worked and how many games it found. The limit on how often one visitor can search counts by the same hash of your IP address as the forms below.

The fonts are served from our own domain as well. The site loads no ads, no social buttons and no other trackers.

What the forms keep

Each form keeps what you send with it:

Report a problem
Which link you reported, the reason you chose and your note.
Submit an item
The link, the game, the platform, the type, the region or serial, whether you said you made it, and your note.
Contact
What your message is about, the link, your message and, if you give one, your email address. We use the email address only to reply to you.

Each form also keeps a hash of your IP address: a one-way code made from the address and a secret key. We use it to limit how many forms one visitor can send and to spot abuse. We never store the address itself. To run the spam check, our server passes your IP address to Cloudflare along with the check's answer.

How long we keep it

Your message
Kept, without your email address once the message is closed.
